Maidenhead Grid Locator Display in the GPS screen section
#1
Further to our previous email, I anxiously look forward to your including a display of the Maidenhead Grid Locator in the section of the display screen related to the GPS-acquired information. The Maidenhead Grid Locator is calculated from the latitude and longitude included in the GPS NMEA sentences. Perhaps the GPS section could be expanded slightly to include the latitude and longitude along with the calculated Maidenhead Grid Locator when the ENABLE GPS box is checked.

Please let me know if I can help you with the calculation of the Maidenhead Grid Locator, although there are many other sources discussing how this is calculated from the current latitude and longitude.

Good luck and please let me know when this new version is available ;-) MNI TNX and VY 73, Lance

If you want you can test a preview of the new release by downloading it here http://goo.gl/7Jomh

Close BktTimeSync and replace the files with the downloaded.

This is only a preview and is continuously updated until the release 1.3.0.

Ciao !

MNI TNX!!! The new file seems to work well, but I am not sure it automatically tries to update the grid locator each time it updates the clock. For example, I pressed SYNC a number of times, and each time it did read the time from the GPS unit, but your GPS locator still stayed displayed on the screen. It was not until I closed the program and then restarted it that it properly showed my grid locator. This could be a problem for "rover" stations or stations who are driving from grid to grid, since they would not know when they entered a new grid unless they turned off the program and restarted it. It would be better if it would check the grid locator each time it checks for the time from the GPS unit..... VY 73, Lance

Thanks for testing.
The calculation of the WWL occurs at every clock synchronization.
Try this version (1.2.93) http://goo.gl/7Jomh

When I try to download Version 1.3.0, it is removed by my Norton Utility because it is finding a virus in it :-(

I tested the program on :

VirusTotal https://www.virustotal.com/it/ - using 46 antivirus
VirScan http://virscan.org/ - using 37 antivirus
Jotti http://virusscan.jotti.org/it - using 19 antivirus

and the program appears free of viruses, malware, spyware, etc. ...
