USB GPS receivers are associated with a virtual COM port to find this port proceed in this way:
Windows 7:
1 - Click the "Start" button on the desktop, then type "Device Manager" in the search box.
2 - Click the "Device Manager" link the in search results to open the Device Manager window.
3 - Scroll through the list of devices until you find the "Port (COM and LPT)".
4 - Click on the + to expand and see all the COM and LPT ports installed in the PC.
Windows XP:
1 - Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
2 - On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.
3 - Scroll through the list of devices until you find the "Port (COM and LPT)".
4 - Click on the + to expand and see all the COM and LPT ports installed in the PC.
